Weimaraners, like any other dog breed, can end up in shelters. More often than not, such a sad fortune of a dog is the result of mistakes made by their owners. Dogs need time, proper care, training, and love. Devoted companions, Weimaraners strive to be with their people.
Friendly, energetic, and intelligent, rescue Weimaraners might have been too much of a challenge for their previous owners. Left unattended for long periods, a dog could have turned bored and destructive.
There are many other reasons why some Weimaraners turn out to be homeless. All of them are not connected with the characteristics of the breed itself. Most often they deal with irresponsible dog ownership or some changes in the owners' life style, which made it difficult to maintain a pet.
All Weimaraners available for adoption are kept up to date on their vaccinations. They are spayed or neutered. Medical histories can be provided with each rescue dog. The volunteers in rescue organizations normally evaluate not only the health of the dogs, but also their temperament.
It is necessary to make a research into the breed before making a decision to adopt. There is no such thing as a breed suitable for everybody. Each breed has its own requirements. Weimaraners should live indoors and feel a part of the family. Weimaraners should be adopted to families that can provide proper care, fencing, training, and plenty of attention and love to their new family member.
